Doris and Vivian Horton Scholarship
Who's Eligible
The Doris and Vivian Horton Scholarship scholarship is for students entering their sophomore, junior, or senior year of college for the upcoming academic year. To be eligible, applicants or at least one member of their family must be members of Atkinson Congregational Church for the past three years or more.
About
Doris & Vivian
Sisters Doris and Vivian lived on Maple Ave. in Atkinson in the 1970s and 80s and were active members of Atkinson Congregational Church. Today, their fund supports individuals and entities through the New Hampshire Charitable Foundation, which enables local donors to take a more organized approach to giving and understanding regional needs. In addition to the Horton sisters’ Atkinson Congregational Church scholarship fund, initiatives that have benefitted from Doris’s and Vivian’s funds include meals programs such as Mealey’s Meals, as well as the Community Crisis Action Fund, established last year by the New Hampshire Charitable Foundation to help local communities in crisis, including those impacted by COVID-19.
The Fine Print
Applications must be received no later than June 16, 2023 and include an official, current college transcript. Completed applications may be e-mailed to office@atkinsoncc.org, or dropped off or mailed to Atkinson Congregational Church, Attn: Scholarship Committee, 101 Main St., Atkinson, N.H. 03811.
