"Your word is a lamp for my feet, a light on my path." - Psalm 119:105

Atkinson Congregational is a place where

children have fun learning about Jesus.

Children from Pre-K through high school meet every Sunday in Tuthill House, following a Children’s Message during the church service. After a time of prayer and reconnecting in our Worship Room, children divide into small groups for activities. Kids are engaged in art, games, science, music, and guided discussion of Biblical stories and messages.

Our congregation welcomes and enjoys the youngest of God's children each Sunday. However, if you feel your child has more energy than you would prefer during the service of worship, you are welcome to bring him/her to the nursery. We have a rocking chair, a changing table, and many children’s books and toys. Your child will be cared for by our nursery staff.

Whatever your children’s ages, we have biblical teaching, music, games and activities that fit their own unique needs.

On your way home, ask your kids what they learned. We provide resources for parents to follow up with their kids on the curriculum we are teaching.

Keeping your children safe and secure is our top priority. All of our volunteers are screened with a federal background check and we have security personel that monitors the exits and hallways.

Starting on January 7, our entire congregation, kids and adults alike, will begin to learn about the UCC Be the Church initiative. Each Sunday, we will focus on one of the Be the Church statements. We will consider scriptural basis for each, and enjoy some hands-on activities along the way. Children will attend part of each Sunday’s worship, then continue to enjoy activities and learning at Tuthill House in their classrooms.

We will be offering Confirmation classes to students in grades 8 and above. These classes, led by Pastor Jim, give our students the opportunity to explore: the Bible, its origins, and how to use it; Christian beliefs; understanding God, Jesus, and the Holy Spirit; and the Christian church. Students will also explore their faith regarding some vital questions about the importance of church and the meaning of confirmation. The dates and other information will be posted here soon.

For one week every summer, we offer a Vacation Bible Camp for children. It is a fun and exciting week for the kids and volunteers, filled with games, crafts, snacks, music, and Bible stories.

KIDS CLUB

On Sundays in the summer, following a Children’s Message in the service, the children are invited to Tuthill House for a relaxed time of Biblical themed crafts, games, and science experiments.
