YOUTH FAITH FORMATION

AND CHRISTIAN EDUCATION

"Your word is a lamp for my feet, a light on my path." - Psalm 119:105

KIDS

Atkinson Congregational is a place where

children have fun learning about Jesus.

Children from Pre-K through high school meet every Sunday in Tuthill House, following a Children’s Message during the church service. After a time of prayer and reconnecting in our Worship Room, children divide into small groups for activities. Kids are engaged in art, games, science, music, and guided discussion of Biblical stories and messages.

Our congregation welcomes and enjoys the youngest of God's children each Sunday. However, if you feel your child has more energy than you would prefer during the service of worship, you are welcome to bring him/her to the nursery. We have a rocking chair, a changing table, and many children’s books and toys. Your child will be cared for by our nursery staff.

WHAT TO EXPECT

AGE APPROPRIATE CONTENT

Whatever your children’s ages, we have biblical teaching, music, games and activities that fit their own unique needs.

RESOURCES

On your way home, ask your kids what they learned. We provide resources for parents to follow up with their kids on the curriculum we are teaching.

SAFETY

Keeping your children safe and secure is our top priority. All of our volunteers are screened with a federal background check and we have security personel that monitors the exits and hallways.

CURRICULUM

Our PK-Grade 5 students enjoy the Whirl Lectionary Curriculum, which uses the same scripture and messages that the adults hear during the wors!hip service. This allows families to easily carry on discussions at home about what they have learned. The students learn from Bible stories, activities and a fun weekly cartoon.

Our teens have tried a variety of curriculum choices, including the NOOMA video series and a 6-week series called “Doing the Right Thing: Ethics Shaped by Faith.”

During Lent, all ages learn and grow together through crafts, snacks, music, scripture and prayer stations that engage all the senses. Join us every Sunday for Church School; we always welcome new friends

VACATION BIBLE CAMP

For one week every summer, we offer a Vacation Bible Camp for children. It is a fun and exciting week for the kids and volunteers, filled with games, crafts, snacks, music, and Bible stories.

This year’s theme is “To Mars and Beyond: Explore Where God’s Power Can Take You!”

The camp will be June 24-28, 2019.  Registration details can be found here.

CONFIRMATION

We offer Confirmation classes to students in grades 8 and above. These classes, led by Pastor Jim, give our students the opportunity to explore: the Bible, its origins, and how to use it; Christian beliefs; understanding God, Jesus, and the Holy Spirit; and the Christian church. Students will also explore their faith regarding some vital questions about the importance of church and the meaning of confirmation.

KIDS CLUB

On Sundays in the summer, following a Children’s Message in the service, the children are invited to Tuthill House for a relaxed time of Biblical themed crafts, games, and science experiments.

TEEN VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES

Are you a student looking for a place to volunteer, serve God, or complete service hours for school? Join us at our church dinners and other events. Volunteer to play your instrument or sing. Help us out at Bible Camp. We also send volunteers to NuDay Syria in Derry and the Sonshine Soup Kitchen. There are cleaning and planning opportunities available at the church. We also welcome teen assistants at our annual Bible Camp. There are many ways to serve; come be a part of it all! Please contact Patty Cole at the church for more information.
