Americans eat an estimated 7 billion cookies each year, and a good portion of those are baked and enjoyed around Christmas. Jesus often used food to engage with people and teach important lessons. And he continues to call us to his table to feast on who he is and learn more about him through his Word. Jesus’ example provides an opportunity for us to help those in need with food.
Continuing to give for our local food banks is important, but cookies are another way we can share joy. While cookie exchanges might prove challenging this year, there are some ways to keep cookies part of the season, safely:
- Break out the cookie cutters and bake some cookies together.
- Share them with a neighbor by leaving them on their doorstep.
- Donate packaged cookies to a local Food Bank.
- Swap favorite cookie recipes with your friends.
- Snuggle up as a family with cookies and some hot chocolate.
