Holy Week 2025

Holy Week and Easter Celebrations

Atkinson Congregational Church is inviting you to its Holy Week and Easter celebrations.

“Holy Week is a great time to be reminded that feelings of hope, gratitude, and renewal are possible when you’re open to them,” said Pastor Jim Thomas. “It’s certainly one of the most spiritual times of the year. With Holy Week falling in April, we’re fortunate that spring will be well underway.”

Sunday, April 13 – Palm Sunday

  • Palm fronds, symbolizing victory and goodness in ancient times, will be available during the 10 a.m. worship service to mark the beginning of Holy Week.

Thursday, April 17 – Maundy Thursday, 7 p.m.

  • Church deacons will lead a short, inspirational program in the sanctuary to commemorate the Last Supper of Jesus with the apostles. Maundy Thursday will also be streamed at https://atkinsoncc.org/livestream. If participating online, please have bread and juice or wine ready, as communion will be part of the service.

Friday, April 18 – Good Friday, 2 p.m.

  • A contemplative, reflective service will be led by Kim Ridley and Kim Busta, who will also share their musical talents, in person at the church, as well as livestreamed.

Sunday, April 20, Easter Sunday, 6 a.m. and 10 a.m.

  • Pastor Thomas will lead a brief sunrise service in the church’s outdoor sanctuary, adjacent to the back parking lot. The sunrise service will also be livestreamed.
  • A second Easter service will take place during Sunday worship and include special music and communion. Online attendees are encouraged to have bread and juice or wine ready for communion. After the service at the church, an Easter egg hunt will take place for kids.
